Steven Ekstract is the founder of Global Licensing Advisors, a boutique Consultancy that connects brands for collaborations and licensing. Prior to launching Global Licensing Advisors, Ekstract was the founder and long time publisher of License Global magazine and various other publications for the licensing industry. He also served as the Brand Director for the Global Licensing Group of Informa Markets, providing oversight, content and direction for their world class Licensing Expositions in The U.S., Europe, Japan and China. In addition, he speaks extensively on licensing at conferences around the world. Ekstract is also the publisher of “Licensing for Dummies”, an introductory business book published by John Wiley & Sons which provides a clear overview of the licensing business. He serves on the Trend Committee for Spielwarenmesse’s Nuremberg Toy Fair, the largest Toy Fair in the World. He currently serves as Managing Director of Global Licensing Advisors.
Ekstract began his career as a documentary video producer at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. From there he transitioned to print journalism, holding executive positions with Video Review and Premiere magazines and then running the New York office of the Hollywood Reporter prior to launching License Global magazine in 1998.
Ekstract attended the United Nations International School in New York City, the American University in Washington D.C. and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He resides in Fairfield County, Connecticut with his wife and three children.
